Import of videos (mp4, mov) does not work

PostTue Aug 07, 2018 10:04 am

Hello there,
I am using Resolve 15 beta and each time I am trying to import a video-file (i.e. a mp4 or mov as a reference), all I get is black - I can t even hit the play-button, nothing will happen. And further more, all other clips get black to - I have to close Resolve and re-start it.
Anybody any idea? Would be really appreciated!!!
Best,
Philipp

Do the non-reference files work?
Maybe your reference files point to media which was moved and Resolve instead of showing error crashes.

Strange. Is it some specific format or any file?
If it's h264 try disabling hardware decoding in settings.

Hey Andrew,
I checked the settings but could not find a section for disabling the hardware decoding - could you tell me where I can find this?

Could it be you are on a PC and have the free version?

It should work then. Do the files have proper timecode?

Maybe tell us which version of OS?
Maybe post a link to a clip clip for testing? :)

Sorry, you re absolutely right!
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.
A clip can be found here:

Once I import a clip it simply won't play, so I delete it. Afterwards Resolve is not working at all, so I ll have to close it entirely.
Help would be really amazing!!!

Your problem is simply a number: "7". Windows 7 is not recommended for Resolve. Someone recommended a patch for it that might work for mp4, but no guarantee. I don't remember the name, so google. It will only work up to HD, but since you're using SD, it might help.

Your clip opens fine here, without any problem other than my sickness from the tilted camera and the zooms ;-)
