Davinci exported files but no AAF for Avid round trip

PostFri Aug 24, 2018 7:25 am

Hey guys! I'm fairly new to the whole process of round-tripping timelines from Avid for color grading and I recently exported my first batch of timelines using the Avid AAF setting in the Deliver tab and ran into some issues. I saved the settings that I wanted under the Avid AAF tab as a custom preset so I wouldn't have to go back and tweak them each time I added another timeline to the queue and applied that custom preset to all of the timelines. When I went to bring the sequences of graded clips back into Avid, I realized that there was no AAF file to go along with each set of newly rendered clips. I'm assuming that this is because I used a custom setting that was saved from the Avid AAF preset tab, as opposed to just tweaking the settings while still under the Avid AAF preset tab.

That being said, my questions are:

1) Is there a way to save custom settings that will still give me the AAF necessary to bring the exported footage back into Avid?
2) Is there a way to export an AAF that will reconnect the footage that I already exported, or will I have to re-export everything?

You will need to export an AAF from the edit page after you render the clips.
Currently there is no feature to auto export the AAF or XML for custom render configs.
