3D Audio Panner and Adaptive Audio Tracks

PostTue Aug 21, 2018 3:32 am

Hello, everyone! I'm new here and I've been using DaVinci Resolve Free for about a month now. I really love it!

I have a question in regard to making 3D audio with Fairlight. I have a monophonic .wav sound effect of a ball bouncing against a wall. I want to pan this sound across the 3D space; left, right, front, back, up, down, diagonally. What is the correct way to do this?

1) Should I use an 24-channel Adaptive audio track for the height channels? If so, how can I use an Adaptive track with a monophonic sound clip AND the 3D Audio Panner?

2) Should I make multiple Sub/Aux/MultiTrack busses instead? Again, is the 3D Audio Panner compatible with them?

Also, since the Master Track is limited to 7.1, the Export Audio tab has the option to export a timeline track as a 24-channel WAV, as long as there is a 24-channel Adaptive audio track in the timeline. Is this the way to go, or should I just export multiple monophonic .wav's from the Sub/Aux/MultiTrack busses and then mux them to one multi-channel .wav file?
