How do you copy timelines complete with media, edits, color between projects?

Select timeline in a bin, copy CTRL+C, then open a new project click on a bin and paste CTRL+V.

I am new to Resolve and have not been using Bins. Can I put current timelines in bins within a existing project or is this something I have to do from the start of a project?

Uncheck "use timeline bins" in general options preferences when you create a project if you want to put timelines into individual bins. Or make sure your project preset has this option unchecked.

If you have an existing project with that option checked, it can't be changed later and you can't copy or move existing or new timelines into other bins.

Yes, the only way to do it is to use an existing project. The bin is the folder within Resolve, the place that holds clips and timelines.

Thanks for the responses. Still don't get how to do this. Wish someone would make a YouTube video on this process. Was reading the manual and it didn't help. Thought Power Bins was what I was missing but you can't store timelines in Power Bins.

Turn Dynamic Project Switching on by right-clicking in the Project Manager. Go to the original timeline you want. In the Edit page, copy all media to the clipboard with ⌘C (on Mac) or ^C (on Windows). Switch projects to the new project, go to the edit page, start a new timeline, and paste all the media. In theory, all the clips and all the corrections will copy over.

You will need to organize the media imported to the new project, because it'll all be crammed into one bin on the Media Page.

It's the paste part that is not working. I am on Windows. Had a small project opened. Did a Cntl A to highlight all media and timeline. Opened another small project. When I do a paste in the edit window the media and timeline show up. The copied of the timeline is named "Copy of Timeline1" and when I drag the timeline after the first timeline it shows up as a very magnified (or cropped) version of the timeline it is there but it is a merged timeline with no separate parts. In other words, I can't delete or change the title, etc. because it is merged into that part of the timeline now. Also, the the pasted part of the timeline plays back but in the timeline view it is very magnified so I also see a small part of the frame and not the whole frame. The same when I look at the pasted timeline on the color page. I don't see any edits I did but I assume they are probably "baked into" the timeline now. Maybe for now I will just plan on not being able to work like this in Resolve. Frustrating!

Copy the timeline, not the clips.

OK. Thanks. That seemed to work. I am rendering it now but it looks good in preview. (For some reason in some of the clips within a timeline where I used dynamic zoom those clips do not display correctly in the timeline but it previews fine.)

Would all this be easier if when I started a project and knew I would do it in pieces, create bins in the beginning and do each piece in a bin and then combine the timelines? Have never tried that.
