Reversing/mirroring part of a scanned sequence

Just recently we prep'd and then carefully scanned a very old 35mm camera negative of casting screen tests.

In prep - checking splices and physical state - we had missed that there was one sequence which had been incorrectly spliced in "in reverse": thus x/y-mirrored and running backwards. Physically correcting this was not an option.

In the timeline we split out the sequence in question and hoped to correct via "Clip attributes" > Flip X/Flip Y and "Change speed ..." > Reverse speed. Alas, while it did what we expected it to do, those settings affected the whole scanner take/sequence instead of just the split-out part we context-clicked. We experimented a bit with copying to a new track etc. - without success.

In the end, we actually copied the original scanner sequence on the filesystem, added copy to media, dropped into the timeline and then did the above corrections.

Are we doing it wrong? Thanks in advance for hints or tips.

Clip attributes would affect the entire clip.
If you need to deliver individual source clips you might need to create the series of the subclips that correspond to the portions of the scans that need adjustment and those that do not. Then you can individually affect the clip attributes for those.
If you are doing it in the timeline, you can use the blade tool to split, and use the Inspector to adjust per-clip instance controls for Transform and the speed adjustment controls to affect the reverse duration.

So we were doing it wrong, indeed. Yes, Flip X/Flip Y via Inspector affects only the split-out part of the clip. Still changing direction via context-click on the split-out part. Works as desired
