Mini Panel / Power Over Ethernet setup ?

PostWed Jul 11, 2018 11:49 am

Hello everybody,
I'd like to power and connect my Mini Panel via PoE, for easy moving and powering it off.

Do some of you have a working setup ?
Can you connect directly the Panel to your computer ?
Can some motherboards provide or do you use PoE/PoE+ switches or routers ? If yes which model ?

Thanks for the help

We don't use the function on ours, but I remember this line from BM: "We have encountered some POE ethernet switches that weren't powering on the panels. To be safe, you can get a POE+ switch. These absolutely work."
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Bump on this question

Has anyone got a working configuration for PoE ?
Can you do it without a 100-200$ 8-ports switch ?

Do you have a big enough power supply to power up all the POE modules?

This is quite unrelated to my question... I don't own any PoE equipment right now.

I'm looking for a simple/cheap/small solution to power my Mini Panel using PoE.

You can get a 4/5 port PoE+ dumb switch for under $100, or a PoE+ injector for under $50.
