HDR Data Levels setting

PostTue Sep 25, 2018 2:08 pm

When creating deliverables for HDR Rec. 2020 PQ, do you set monitoring data levels to video or full? I am assuming you set your render data levels to match whatever you have chosen for monitoring. Would data level setting be outlined in delivery specification?

It doesn't matter as it's all converted automatically when needed.
Key point it that your monitor/TV is reading what your card is sending. If by auto this doesn't work then you have to manually set monitoring and TV to full or limited.

As Andrew explained as long as your monitor levels and the levels Resolve sends out match you are ok. For most setups, I would recommend video levels.

However, your monitor/Resolve input-output settings are independent from the delivery settings. You can choose video or data (and for video set if you want sub-blacks and super whites included), in most cases, you would want video levels.
