Audio render settings are profoundly broken.

PostFri Sep 28, 2018 11:53 pm

Hi all.

I'm trying to render out my program's audio as wave files, and again I'm stymied by some problems with the audio UI and rendering.

In the attached screen shot, you can see that the render settings' audio track numbers and types do not agree with what's shown in the timeline. It says track 2 is 5.1, but that's wrong; track 2 is stereo and track 3 is 5.1.

I did a test render to see what I'd get, and what I got is a four-channel wave file containing timeline audio tracks 1 and 2 (which are both stereo). And, no surprise, the first two channels are full of audio even though the corresponding timeline track is muted.

It is impossible to render audio track 3; as noted before, these controls are quite defective and won't even go up to 3.

I then removed audio track 1 from the render and rendered track 2 (which is erroneously shown as 5.1). I got a two-track wave file, as expected considering the previous result.

What is going on here?

Just un-mute the track you have set to mute. That should fix it.

Thanks for your reply.

I ended up deleting track 1 entirely and moving the others up. Looks like you have already figured out what the bug is: The presence of a muted track messes it up.

Surprising that this wasn't discovered until now, since track 1 is often the camera scratch audio; who doesn't mute that eventually?
