Please pardon my ignorance. I'm a fish out of water here.
( My personal system runs Linux on a 10 year old Asus MB w 12GB Ram and a GT 710 )
I'm a hobbyist builder. I've built plenty of systems for gaming but never anything like this.
.....................
A friend asked me to help with a new build for general use + Photo/Video editing and rendering in 4K.
He's a hobbyist photographer / videographer and currently uses a Macbook Pro that struggles.
His budget is USD $2000 including a 4k monitor 3840 x 2160 - 27" or larger.
He uses Photoshop - Lightroom - DaVinci Resolve.
There seems to be an unending debate about which CPU + GPU to use.
After searching around the last week ( including this forum ) I put together this build.
These are my best guesses at this budget allowing $400 for the monitor.
He was looking at the LG 27UD68-P for $410
If budget allows he might upgrade the Ryzen 1700 to Ryzen 2700, he will probably not overclock.
I picked a RX 580 GPU over a GTX 1060 since it was $60 cheaper.
( Someone mentioned a NVIDIA Quadro K1200 instead )
He'll be using the free version of Davinci Resolve so only one GPU therefore the B450 MB vs X470.
It looks like the GPU budget is max $450.
Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated including any monitor suggestions.
You guys have an unbelievable product to work with here.
( I'm jaw dropping impressed.........it's just way outside my interests )
Thank You
