Stills Export DPX Only?

PostThu Oct 11, 2018 8:09 pm

Hi,

The gallery only allows me to export stills in DPX and nothing else.

Oddly enough, I was able to choose still formats from the workstations at the office. Can't seem to do it from my MBP.

Is there something I'm missing?

I'm running Studio version 15.1.1 on 10.13.6

Thanks,

C.

After you create still in Color tab, right click on the still in the media window and choose export. You can export to many formats.

If you're running the App Store version of DaVinci Resolve, that's one of the differences compared to the one you can download from BMD.

So there are 2 versions of Studio?

But the price is the same, so why is there a difference?

How does one get the BMD version?

Since Mac App Store apps are sandboxed by Apple there are some API:s that can't be used. All app developers face this issue and many apps are different in the Mac App Store because of this.

The free version of DaVinci Resolve can be downloaded directly from https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support. If you need the Studio version you have to buy either an activation key or a USB dongle (and download the Studio version from the same link). You can only buy from retailers, not from BMD directly.

Since old dongles work as well, you can also get cheap dongles on Ebay.

It used to cost 999$ for the studio and 299$ for the apple one.

At this point thete is no reason to get the apple one.
