Hey guys. I just encountered this problem before leaving work and it’d be super helpful if I could wrap my head around it before tomorrow morning!! That said there’s a bunch of specs I don’t know off the top of my head so bear with me.
Here’s the basics: I have 2k film scans of a TV miniseries that I’m conforming to tape references. The scans are 24fps, the tapes are 25fps.
When I set up my project, I brought the film in first, so the project is also 24fps. Then I brought in my tapes and set them to 24fps in clip attributes. The picture lined up beautifully and my colorist is almost halfway through all six hours of this thing.
Here’s the rub: the film doesn’t have a soundtrack, but the reference files do, so I need that reference tape audio to sync to the film. But it gradually gets out of sync as it goes. (Playing the files out of QuickTime at 25fps is fine, so they are *starting* in sync.)
I’m thinking I might re-render the reference files out of a whole new project (project set to 25fps and render settings at 24fps) but I feel like there should be an easier fix... right??
Of course the clients want the whole thing delivered on Monday (lol) so time is of the essence. If there’s a faster/easier/better way then I need to use it!
Unfortunately all the specs I know off the top of my head are that I’m on a Mac and we’re still using version 14. But I’m hoping y’all still have some general ideas on this.
Thanks so much!!
