Trouble Importing an AAF from Protools

PostMon Oct 22, 2018 9:00 pm

Hi there,

I'm having some serious trouble importing a Protools AAF into Resolve. My current workflow has me exporting my timeline and audio files from Resolve using the Protools delivery preset option to my sound editor, who works in Protools. It's when the sound editor sends me back an AAF that things get really weird. Here's an example of a simple test we did, with as few uncontrolled variables as possible.

The Protools AAF that I imported into Resolve is of a simple, two clip timeline on Audio Track #1. Each audio clip is 10 seconds long, with no EQ, leveling, or transitions. The total timeline length should be 20 seconds.

When I import the AAF into Resolve, the timeline is stretched out over almost 11 hours. There are still two audio clips, but each is ridiculously long. No audio is playable in the timeline. There are no levels, no waveforms, nothing. The original audio clips which are linked to the AAF get imported into the media pool, and I can play them in the source monitor, but not on the timeline.

After playing with it for awhile, I was able to send the AAF to Adobe Premiere, export an XML from Premiere, and then import that XML into Resolve. This basically works, but I really hope that there's a better solution. I'm working on a feature length project, and sending all of my project files through Premiere is hardly a viable option.

Please Help!
