32GB RAM will help. Dual GPU will improve render times but will not increase VRAM past the single card 8GB.

Depends on what you intend to do and what type of source media you're using. On Windows hardware acceleration of some H.264 and H.265 files is only available in the Studio version (providing supported hardware is used). I assume the G7 shoots H.264.

If you also render to H.264 you will see an improvement, but many prefer to render to DNxHR/CineForm/ProRes and do the final H.264 encode in a better encoder, like x264.

If you don't use H.264 or H.265 media there's no speed improvement in Studio over the free version except for the possibility to use multiple GPU:s.

Well that statement is true if you limit the scope of it to decoding/encoding H.264/H.265.

There's plenty of good stuff in the Studio version that isn't in the free version.

The Studio version has a better h264/h265 decoder even when using software, especially on Windows. But most probably with the hardware accelerated decode/encode will be a huge difference. Lots of other benefits in the Studio version will tools etc as well.

And the fact that you will be using dual GPU:s will help with demanding effects like temporal noise reduction.

Since you are using H.264 you will be freeing up a lot of CPU time. Since that bottleneck will change you will see an overall improvement.

I have the paid version but only a single rx 580, looking to add another, but they've gone up in price by 2x so I'm holding my breath, lurking for a freak specimen.

Feel free to share your puget and candle benchmark performance scores for dual rx580 with me/us. :-) once you purchase the studio version. I don't expect 2x the speed but somewhere between 1.5-1.8 would be nice.

You can encode h.264 using GPU as well. I haven't yet encountered mpeg encoding by way of two GPUs.
The only question is whether you find the resulting video good enough. I suggest using Transcode and Prefer Quality options.
