Upgrade to 17 issues

PostSun Feb 28, 2021 5:35 am

After upgrading from 16 to 17 on Windows 10 I am not able to preview/play any footage, rendering does not work. The progress indicators won't move a bit after pressing play. Any asset imported to the bin shows as "black" rectangle. I went through a 2+ hours of troubleshooting cleaning my windows registry to see if it helps - installing version 16 after this exercise works fine but after upgrading to 17 immediately after nothing works. I have materials in mp4 from gopro, iphone mov, mts from an old Panasonic HD cam that worked in 16 - nothing works in 17 after upgrading and I am sure it is not the assets that broke it. Uninstalling 17 is not an easy process - I have to clean registry manually - uninstalling does not remove all the garbage from the registry - seriously? common - if I have to spend hours on bringing my software back to life after unsuccessful upgrading - what is the point of upgrading? Please, do more QA on the uninstallation part - at this point reinstalling windows is perhaps the easiest path.

With all the versions of Resolve I have used on Windows I have only ever uninstalled the main program folder in Control Panel/Programs and features. I have never had to go into the Registry and remove things there. Never had a problem with any version of Resolve from 14, through all the Betas, to version 17 that I am using now.
I don't use Go Pro or phone footage, but .mts files work fine.
