Advice wanted re: SOP for changing graphics card

PostTue Mar 02, 2021 7:50 pm

I have to replace my failed graphics card. I also have to update Resolve Studio from B8 to current version.

What should I do first? Update Resolve? or replace the card?

Thanks!

I'll defer to someone else who claims more experience than I, but I really don't think it matters which order you do it in. I first installed Resolve 16 on a system with an ancient graphics card and I couldn't get it to run, so I went out and got a GTX 1050i card and fired up Resolve and it immediately worked fine with it without me having to do anything special. And since then I've installed a few Resolve 17 beta versions and now the release version and they've all worked just fine.

Thanks, Sean. I just ripped out the graphics card today and sent it off to Richmond where MIS has their warranty service. So the decision's made for me. Resolve upgrading will have to wait until it gets back.

Thanks for your input from a former Capilano Highlands boy.
