Media offline [solved]

PostSat Mar 06, 2021 2:08 pm

I can't find a collect topic of the media offline bug so perhaps make this one it.

In the hopes of better thumbnail performance (no reloading after every switch or edit) I upgraded from 16.3 (i think) to 17.1 beta (assuming that 17.1 has bugfixes).

Also upgraded the Nvidia driver to latest.

All 10bit H264 422 clips are not loading. Plays audio only.

Also tried with OpelCL, no effect.
Has nothing to do with limited Vram as it happens when only half of Vram is used.

Very stressful. I wont be trying this again until 17.6 or something.

Also, performance in general is MUCH slower, program freezes for seconds just while browsing the (1+ hour) timeline. I know this is a very big project asking much of the program by using original files, but that doesn't change the fact that the responsiveness has gotten worse...

This sounds like you installed the Free version by mistake, which can't handle 10 bit media.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Hm strange, I really thought I downloaded the studio version.
I see now there are two separate posts with linking to studio and free version on the support page.
I didn't know there was even a beta version of the free version.
I'll take more care next time..
