Deleted PostgreSQL acidentally and lost 35+ Edited episodes

PostFri Mar 05, 2021 4:13 pm

Hi! I had a working home server on davinci resolve that i set up on the past, i was working in a project with 35+ episodes of a tv show i'm editing in there, but i acidentally uninstalled PostgreSQL from my computer and even deleted the remaining PostgreSQL folders from Program Files folder in Windows.

I've been trying to solve this with no sucess, has anyone got any idea of the easiest way to get back to where i was?

In davinci resolve it shows as database not connected. I've aready installed PostgreSQL 13.2 and 9.5 assuming that it would solve the problem.

How can i help you to help me? Thank you in advance!

EDIT: when i run davinci resolve project server i get the message: The PostgreSQL server is either not running or the password is incorrect.

i've aready used the resolve installer to install the Postres. After that it still shows the same message "The PostgreSQL server is either not running or the password is incorrect."

When i check windows processes i see that no postgres process is running.

I can't create a new server or connect to a server with the same user/pass from the last server. I get a message saying that the server denied my acess.

The thing is i'm trying to acess a server that has been created in the same computer i'm using.

Now i'm trying to figure out where do my davinci resolve database project files ".db" are stored so i can restore them. I can find some of them but not all.

I always had auto save on but i don't know where the files are saved to while working in postgresql server inside resolve.

I went to check and i have project backups "PB" on, but can't find any backups for the projects i had in the server.

I ran Recuva's deep scan overnight in hopes of finding something but i don't know what i'm looking for other than "project.db" files wich i've checked and none fits the criteria. I've also found a "Local Database.resolve.diskdb" file with 254MB.

I'm looking for something that has been saved until at least the three of march because that's when i think everything got deleted and was the latest day i worked on that project, but can only seem to find backups files (ex: filename127.0.0.1.resolve.backup) from february eight.

I've tried restoring that one backup i found to see what's salvageable but now realise i would need to have the server working for it to work. And as i'm not satisfied with the file date i wanted to keep searching a bit longer. The files must have been stored somewhere, right? i just hope they weren't in windows/programfiles/postgres... because if they were i will most likely only recover them with recuva. just need to know what to look for and how to set it up again.

Will be here all day if you or anyone is up for giving a hand! thank you so much for trying, really.

UPDATE: i ended up trying to make a system restore to see if that would help but no. I've also removed the database from davinci's postSQL section to try and reconnect it with no sucess.

I'm wondering where were my projects stored, because if they were stored inside C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL i can guarantee i deleted that entire folder after uninstalling the program.

I'm getting terrified here, what a terrible terrible day to be alive.

Do you have a back up of your C drive?
Are there any PostGres DB backups?

The FAQs list the Disk DB default locations, have a look to see what there?
Using Resolve to install PostGres is the better method but it wont install if i thinks there is already PostGres there and of course you dont want to delete any further chance of recover, if there is a chance.

Just to be sure i'm not making any mistakes, wich FAQ are you refeering to? Could you please point me to it?

I don't have a backup of my C drive because i usually don't store anything on it, it's mainly for windows to run on.

I never did backup Postgres, i never tought postgres would store only the davinci project files within itself, i tought it would maintain being the davinci backup folder as it always been.

But please tell me, do you know how to set up the server again so i can use the old backup i've found? I will still loose about 15/20 episodes but would be nice to at least get some back.
