From VideoAssist to Resolve with DNxHD/R: MXF or MOV ?

PostThu Mar 11, 2021 4:03 pm

since both MXF and MOV are available options for DNxHD/R when recording on my Video Assist 4k, which one should I prefer ? Is there a real perf difference (on Windows) ?
Being a single muxed file, MOV is slightly more convenient, but is it as fast as MXF when editing in Resolve 17 ?

MXF has 2 variants. OP1a has both video and audio in a single file. Op-Atom places video and audio in separate containers.

On topic, either one is fine. MOV is slightly more convenient with other programs.

My choice is for MXF OP1a.

You get a single file, and none of the issues of QuickTime.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

We too use OP1a generally.
