DeckLink Monitor LUT Affects GUI On Main Monitor?

PostFri Mar 12, 2021 4:38 pm

Hello,

Forgive me as I'm new around here so apologies if this is something super obvious.

I recently bought a DeckLink Mini Monitor card for my PC to set up an external reference monitor, however the display I'm connecting to it is pretty cheap at the moment and of course the color output is far away from the monitor I'm using for my timeline and GUI. So after digging into forums to understand how to color calibrate the display I figured out the workflow for using displayCal with my Spyder5 colorimeter and was able to get that to work just fine. I now have a 3D LUT that I've managed to generate and am trying to figure out where to apply it.

I'm currently using Resolve 17.1 Studio and when I apply the calibration LUT in my Color Management settings it does correct the output to the reference display on the DeckLink card, but my problem is that it also screws up the viewer output on my main GUI display in the edit page.

I found a lot of users recommending to apply the calibration LUT in the slot named "3D Video Monitor Lookup Table" in the Lookup Tables section of the Color Management tab in project settings, but Resolve 17 doesn't have that same option here. There is however a slot for the color display LUT and if I set that to "No LUT Selected" it fixes the problem in the color page, but the edit page is still screwed up.

Am I missing something simple here? Does anybody know how to apply a correction LUT to the DeckLink Mini output ONLY, and not the main GUI viewer?

Thanks!
-Chris
