Paste not immediately available cross dynamic-project

PostSat Mar 13, 2021 9:53 pm

Windows 10, 17.0... With dynamic project switching on, two projects open, and in the Edit page on project1, I place the timeline where I intend to paste-insert some objects to be copied from project2. I use the top dropdown to switch to project2, select the desired objects and choose Edit/Copy. I use the top dropdown to switch back to project1, and immediately try to Paste (and Paste-Insert) are not available.

Usually I just press the keyboard shortcut, and in the past I was simply surprised that nothing pastes, and go back to project1 to try copying again.

However, I found that if I drag the timeline slightly back and forth (while in project1), suddenly paste and paste-insert become available. That seems a bug.

Where is that exactly?

I think they are referring to timeline1 and timeline2.

I've had some weird copy+paste behaviour between timelines, too. Often I have to Ctrl+V twice to get the clipboard to paste.

Me, too. That's what I wanted to confirm.

I meant the dropdown arrow next to the project name, above the viewer, that appears when dynamic project switching has multiple projects loaded.

Oh, cool. Never noticed that before.

I couldn't duplicate the issue, though. Both Paste and Paste Insert worked immediately after switching.

Uploading a demonstration (it's repeatable behavior for me in 17.1 build 24, even in different projects).
I briefly start in a project1, switch to project2 and copy some timeline items, then show back in project1 that the "Edit/Paste" appears to be available (while Edit/PasteInsert is greyed out/not available)... but when I activate Edit/Paste, nothing happens. I recheck the menu (no change).

Then I wiggle the timeline marker, and go back to the menu - now both menu items are visible as available, and when I choose the same Edit/Paste item, the items paste as intended.
