Force cache

Can I somehow force my entire timeline to cache and just get a cup of coffee in the meantime? Especially on effects heavy projects (where a single timeline 'pass' often isn't enough for my pc to cache the whole timeline) this would be very useful.

Sure. Set Render Cache to User, select all the clips and turn the Cache on.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
