Media Management Clips Remain Offline After Relinking

PostTue Mar 23, 2021 10:36 pm

Hello,

I used MM to trim and copy clips to an external drive to open on a different computer. After relinking on the other computer, the clips display normally in the media pool but show as offline in the timeline. Scrubbing through media pool clips I'm seeing that only a portion of the clips are actual footage, the remainder being offline (due to the trimming).

If I conform lock individual clips in the timeline the footage relinks fine but I don't want to have to do this to each individual clip.

Am I doing something wrong here? Is there a better method for relinking trimmed clips? Should I not even bother with trimming and just copy each clip in its entirety?

Thanks.

Did you define subclips? If you use more than one part of the same source clip, this is a must!
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Can you be a bit more specific? I'm not sure what the connection is between trimmed media managed files and subclips.
