Parallel node, dont work mask?

PostWed Mar 24, 2021 2:38 pm

Hello!
Just a doubt with node layers....
As you can see in my attachment, i made first a basic correction and then a 3 parralel node:
1 The number 1 is all the frame moving "lift" to green for tint
2 Number 2 is the hat just changed with Hue to violet color
3 Number 3 is the subject masked with "Magic Mask"

I thought parallel node works like layers in photoshop but maybe im wrong, because, as u can see in the final composition, my image is all with green tint: the mask i did for the subjetc didnt work and the violet had lost saturation

What im doing bad?
Regards!

LAYER node priority is inverse from Photoshop: lower layers overwrite higher layers. ("Lower" and "Higher" referring to the ports on the left side of the Parallel node.)

[EDIT: Oops, Layer Node, Layer node. Corrected from Parallel Node. Though the order is the opposite of most programs, as noted.]

I recommend to look in the manual for "parallel nodes" in the color sections.

in short, in a parallel node all the corrections are calculated for each branch, then "added" together, then applied to a pixel.

a simple way to see this is making a simple two parallel node tree, in one push the gamma to red and in the other put the sat to 0: what you get is a sepia tone.

if you put a mask in a branch, that mash only effect that branch and not the others.

I think you want a layer node, not a parallel node.

Thank all for your replies.
I will try Layer node and read about it.
