Render3D in Fusion crashes Resolve 17

PostWed Feb 03, 2021 9:12 pm

Hi Guys,
Whenever I connect Render3D node to MediaOut and go back to Edit page it crashes. It does not matter what is connected to Render3D (imported Alembic, or just plain merge with camera and shape), it just crashes as soon as I leave Fusion page for Edit or Color. It does not crash if i switch to Fairlight page but all other pages crash Fusion. I can switch to another clip within Fusion page, that does not have Render3D connected to output and then switch to Edit page, but as soon as I move the playhead above fusion clip with Render3D, it craches.

I rolled back to beta 7. The result is the same. Anyone encountered anything like this or aware of the solution? Thank you in advance.

I can confirm that Fusion is still quite flaky in 17.
Both Text+ titles in Resolve and even BM's own demo project in the standalone version crash repeatedly.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Hi David, Ulrich

Can you pass us a link to a diagnostic log archive (from the Help menu)? It would be helpful if you could include a comp export as well.

David, can you also provide a more comprehensive description of your hardware and driver setup please?

Sure, here you go: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v3082gqtnv39x ... v.zip?dl=0
This is from my Text+ test. It contains only demo footage from BM's site, so the project should be fully reproducible.
It was running on my Mac mini with the eGPU.

How do I get a crashlog from Fusion standalone?

OK, here you go: https://www.dropbox.com/s/enetmkhsn3haj ... h.zip?dl=0

This from Apple's log, which shows up when killing the process. It's BM's own SpaceShip demo from the Fusion product page., I only changed to output to ProRes LT.
It renders to a few frames beyond 100 and then it stalls completely (no more CPU and GPU activity). I need to kill it.

Hi, Thank you for reply.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JW29m1 ... sp=sharing

Here is the link for ZIP which contains:
- Resolve Log
- systeminfo
- project which recreates problematic issue- just a plain scene with camera and sphere, with render3d node. as soon as you go to Edit page, Resolve crashes.
- and screenshot of the above said scene.

Let me know if you need anything else. Thank you in advance and looking forward for your reply.

David,

From your setup, you have a display GPU - the 960 and the processing GPU - the 2070 Super. You may want to remove the 960 and connect the displays directly to the 2070 to avoid bottlenecking the 2070's performance.

Uli,

Can I check if running Resolve from the external GPU alone - i.e. display connected to eGPU, internal display not used - still shows the issue?

Thanks

Ok. Thanks for the suggestion.
Is this the problem with render3d node?
Thank you in advance.

Hi. Thank you. It was the problem. As soon as i connected to 2070, node started to work. Cheers, David
