Multicam Questions

PostWed Mar 24, 2021 1:27 pm

Hi, I am new to Davinci - attempting to move from Premiere. I have a couple of questions with the multi clip tool

1. I can't find where to show the Timecode Overlays of the original clips when looking at a Multicam clip (tried the data burn in, but doesn't seem to work this way). so my A cam and B cam might have differing timecodes, but I need to see them for reference.

2. I can't seem to change the Clip attributes of a Multicam clip. For example, If I want to cut in Camera Angle1 plus 3 mono Audio tracks that are synced up, In Premiere I'd change the Multicam clip attributes to as many audio tracks as I have in the Multicam so I can choose which audio tracks to also cut in at the same time, rather than go back and repeat each cut to add the extra audio tracks I want.

Thanks in Advance!

1. You'll have to go into the Multicam and turn on Overlays there. (Right click>Open in Timeline) But those overlays won't come through to your main timeline. I'm not aware of any way to get that at the moment other than creating Window Dubs of the original media.

2. With the way Resolve works, I find it best to keep usable audio out of the Multicam. Add it under the Multicam separately. This makes mixing in Fairlight much easier later on.

All that said, the biggest mistake I made after switching from Premiere Pro was thinking that my previous experience meant I could just jump into a new NLE without difficulty.

Nope.

As a new user, your first course of action should be to complete some Resolve training. The Beginner's Guide and Advanced Editing are an excellent groundwork to get you moving smoothly. ;)

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
