iZotope RX7 Performance issues in Fairlight

PostTue Dec 17, 2019 10:39 pm

I've recently installed iZotope's RX7 Advanced plugins to use in Fairlight. When I load them into the tracks in the mixer or straight onto a clip, the whole UI in Resolve as well as the plugin itself starts to lag, making it incredibly hard to adjust anything as it takes seconds to move sliders, pause/play etc. Audio plays as normal, but not the UI.

I've made one very strange discovery: When my laptop is connected via HDMI to an external monitor, everything runs nice and smooth as it should. I believe there's something up with the GPU. I've updated the drivers for the GPU and played around with the settings in Nvidia control panel. No luck.

I would like to, as you would guess, not have to use an external monitor in order to get the right perfomance ;)

I'm running Resolve 16.1.2, but the problem was still there yesterday in 16.1.1

My system:
Razer Blade 15 Base 2018
Core i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz
256GB SSD + 2TB HDD
GTX 1060 Max-Q 6GBIntel
UHD Graphics 630
16 GB RAM
1080p 60Hz Display

Hello,

I can confirm this bug is still present in 17.1 with RX8. The UI lag doesn't appear to be caused by any actual audio processing, as it persists even when the plug-in is disabled or audio effects have been cached.

As a work around - it's not pretty - you can add the plug-in; adjust its parameters to your liking while the UI is lagging; then restart Davinci and don't open the plug-in GUI again. That way Resolve runs without excessive lag.
