Slow Preview and Workflow in Da Vinci Resolve 17.1 Studio

PostThu Mar 25, 2021 10:08 am

Hello everybody.

I just upgraded my computer and switched from Da Vinci Resolve 15 to Davinci 17.1 Studio on a new Computer.
I realized that nearlly everything is slower and choppier than on my old machine in DVR 15.
I allready reinstalled DVR 17.1 with all the steps to completly remove it from the system and it still did not get better.
Also i have now no activation left, because i had to enter the registration key a second time on my new machine, even i deinstalled the first time i installed it.
Below is the link to the log and info files concerning my setup:

Any help will be appreciated, because after 2 days trying tweaking all settings to enhance perormance i found, it is not getting better.

Thanks a lot.

What GPU and driver are you using?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Sorry for not writing technical specs, i thought everything would be in the nfo files.
Do you need more details?

It is a Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 first with this Drivers:
461.72-desktop-win10-64bit-international-nsd-dch-whql and also updated to this Drivers:
461.92-desktop-win10-64bit-international-nsd-dch-whql

Booth drivers resulted in the same behavior.

Also i just realized, that for example i can not drag and drop files from a windows explorer window into my media pool, which works with da vinci resolve 15 on my other machine.

Now DVR 17.1 just crashed during drag and dropping a video file from my mediapool into the timeline in the edit workspace.
After restarting DVR i am not able to drag and drop files inside DVR.
Also the crash report i sent to BMD.

OK.

Drag and Drop issues aside nor now, are you sure you installed Studio and not Free? (My thinking is that Free won't accelerate GPU decoding.)

Yes i am sure, that it is the studio version, due t the point, that i had to enter my serial number.
Also funny side, after the crash yesterday, it runs much faster and also renders faster with the nvidia codec in the deliever tab, but i can not drag and drop files from the explorer into my media tab.
