Source Audio Filenames

PostSun Sep 04, 2016 1:05 pm

Syncing dailies in 12.5.1 All works great except: when I move over to the edit page the audio source filenames have been changed to the associated video clip filename.

Not what I need because, I'm handing the dailies off to Avid off-site but will be getting the job back to On-Line it and send to sound studio for finishing. Both the editor and the audio house want to reference the original .wav files and not the .mxf audio.

Seems to be a known problem. Has anyone got a workaround for 12.5.1. ?

Thx,
Clay

The synced audio file name is listed in the camera metadata and exportable via ALE to Avid or from the media pool export. I hope to improve this further in the future.

Thanks Peter. Ok, gonna try that tomorrow. Although, they're having major problems with .ale files. Apparently an Avid MC8 issue.

Meantime, I can imagine instances where it would be preferable to have the option of either maintaining the audio sourcefile name during auto sync or not. A simple checkbox within the conform menu would do the trick.

An .omf export option on the edit page in the timeline export menu would be a most welcome audio feature update too. At the moment I have to do this via Premiere.

Conformalizer is very standard for taking edit lists and then re-syncing the original multitrack audio files to the project for finishing in Pro Tools:

EdiLoad is another method:

Hi all. Same issue here.

.DNG RAW footage, separate temporary .WAV audio files. Need to export the audio files to Vegas Pro where my sound recordist/designer will use the good audio files.
When I export the timeline in any format (xml, aaf, edl) then open them, no mention at all of the original wav file. When the metadata is exported in a .CSV from the menu, the .csv file shows these audio files in a column, BUT named after the DNG name, not the filename given by my sound recordist.
Origonal files are
Traces_scene 6H_prise 2.wav
The csv list shows
6H-2_2016-11-21_2324_C0043.wav
and it becomes when I Deliver audio only:
A1-0001_6H-2_2016-11-21_2324_C0043_[000000-000767].2023058.wav

Beside using a third-party software, is there a trick to use to avoid the relink or reconform the audio files inside Vegas one by one?

I will try this: export the timeline in .AAF, then deliver the audio only in .WAV with "original names" activated, then rename outside Resolve all the audio files to make them the same as in the AAF file.
Is it sounding correct?

Hi all,

I have still the same problem in 2020 or am I missing the solution?

Encountering this issue too, surely there must a fix for this that doesn't involve third party software? Like I need to get export an AAF that lists the synced audio source file names instead of the attached camera clip names.
