Audio gets "stuck" between Resolve & Audio I/O

PostWed Mar 31, 2021 5:53 am

Started Resolve and got the usual 1 second full scale POP across all outputs (yikes!), however this time seemed to fry my I/O. No amount of rebooting hardware or software would clear it, until I rebooted Resolve. Meters are constantly frozen in place, both on the hardware and software console (image attached).

Which points at Resolve as the culprit here. Rebooted the app and the frozen meters cleared up, however now I can't get audio to reach the I/O.

So I rebooted the SX-36, which brought back one of the little status lights (hurray!), however I'm still not getting audio from the computer/CC-2 to my I/O...

Rebooted Resolve once more, again with the full scale noise blasts (on app launch and again when opening a project), audio shows as playing back in Resolve, but never makes it to my audio I/O - no input showing at all, yet it shows as synced and clocked to the MADI input stream.

Ideas?

To follow up on my own post, it appears that Resolve will not work with external I/O at 96kHz.

I opened a project set to 48kHz (and stereo), got my half second of full scale noise (ouch), and everything worked fine.

Re-opened my 96kHz project (Auro-3D), got a second of full scale noise (yuck), audio does not make it from the Fairlight to the Metric Halo, despite the latter reporting that it is locked to 96kHz (which it gets from the incoming MADI stream) and in sync with Resolve.

It appears that Resolve may have an issue with it's audio system (CC-2 and SX-36) running at 96kHz.

Hi Thor

The new release - 17.1.1 - has additional fixes for audio playback. If you can, could you try installing 17.1.1 to check if it solves your issue?

If the pops and audio IO issues persist, could you include a link to Resolve logs (Help menu), a sample 96KHz DRP where you can see the issue, and detail your audio setup - including Resolve's Fairlight/audio IO preferences settings and mac OS sound preferences.

Thanks
Shrinivas

Thanks Srinivasan,

I just saw the update posted, will try it out and report back.

Cheers,
