Color science messed up by using Optimized media

PostFri Apr 02, 2021 7:39 pm

Hello everyone!

I encountered a problem I do not understand. I tried to switch my Color science from the default DaVinci YRGB to DaVinci YRGB Color Managed with the preset of SDR Rec.709 or DaVinci Wide Gamut. I am working with BRAW footage from BMPCC 4K. The problem comes when I try to use Optimized media or Proxy media. I tried both. What happens is that it seems the effect aplied to color by Color Managed is doubeled and it doesn't look nice at all. Both elements are important to me (Color Managed as well as Optimized media) and I don't want to give up either one. Has anybody else come across this?? Can anybody give an advice??

Thanks a lot!

I'm seeing the same here in Studio 17.1.1.

RCM and OM are quite different.

ACES and OM are quite different.

ACES and Proxy are slightly different.

RCM and Proxy show no difference.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
