Let me preference this with - I love Resolve 17. But...(always a but)...the general graphics is TERRIBLE! I mean like way worse than Premiere Pro (if such a thing is possible). I'm always going to be using After Effects for most graphics... but just the simplest thing in Resolve is hideous. I'm not going to make my list here...but anyone into graphics knows this. Please do something to improve this. I don't want to go into Fusion if I can help it. Thanks!

If you want Motion Graphics, you need Fusion.

That simple.

Thankfully, BMD has taken the time to create some really great training materials for us. The manuals, in particular, should be at the top of your To Do list.

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Many professional VFX artists prefer node based compositors over AE. But if you don't like Fusion, stick to AE.
After all, it's much better than Premiere and its 3D integration with C4D is really good. I wish Fusion would step up in that area.

Oh, and when I recommend Fusion, it's the standalone (and plenty of RAM).
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.
