Help with databases

PostSat Apr 03, 2021 9:39 pm

I'm new to Resolve but we've been using 16.2 for the last weeks with no issues. Today after clicking on an older file, suddenly none of the databases work and even though I'm running 16.2 it says my database is incompatible with 17?!! We had 17 on the computer for a day but then went back to 16 because it ran smoothly.
Any thoughts about how to get this database to work again?

A database from 16 that has been upgraded to work on 17 will no longer work in 16. That's why SOP is to Backup all databases before an upgrade, so you have something to go back to.

Have you posted the issue with 17 here in the forums? Maybe we can help?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I haven't posted to 17. The strange thing is that although we downloaded 17, we only used it for an hour before deciding to go back to 16 (computer too slow). We've been using 16 for the last weeks without any troubles...all the projects showing up perfectly....any reason why suddenly the computer would choose 17 as a database?

When you install 17, it will ask to Upgrade your database. If you do that, that database will no longer work in 16. Which is why the 16 database needs to be backed up before allowing 17 to upgrade it, if you ever want to go back to 16.

If you only have one database, and you were using 17 at all, then you answered yes to allowing it to Upgrade the database.
