Problem exporting audio for mix in Nuendo

PostFri Apr 09, 2021 9:51 am

Hi all,

I've been trying to export a mix file for my audio mixer who's working in Nuendo. He says he can import .AAF or .OMF, or even .EDL. I've tried both .AAF exports out of the deliver page in DVR (AVID & ProTools), but neither will import into Nuendo. As a workaround I've tried exporting my timeline to Premiere .XML in the deliver tab, opened the timeline in Premiere, with a view to exporting a .AAF file from there. Sadly, whilst this method produces an .AAF file that my mixer is able to import, it seems that the DVR>Premiere via .XML stage loses all levelling and most importantly crossfade information.

This will result in hours of additional work for my mixer, due to the amount of dialogue edits I've made in the cut. Can anyone PLEASE help, this is incredibly frustrating.

With many thanks,

jason

Is Nuendo displaying an error code when attempting to import the AAF?

Few suggestions:
(1) While Nuendo often ignores muted Clips in an AAF, muted Clips in the AAF can also result in an error at import. Use Clip Gain rather than disabling the Clip on the Timeline or completely remove muted Clips prior to exporting the AAF.

(2) Timeline menu > Flatten Audio Track Layers

(3) Resolve Preferences > User > Editing > General Settings > Align audio edits to frame boundaries

(4) Disable the Video Track in the AAF preset and deliver broadcast wave files as it has been reported that Nuendo can fail to import certain embedded AAFs.
