Lost Footage/Clips Please Help!

Hello everyone! I am working on a project and got everything all finished up for the most part, just needed to fix a couple transitions and an audio track needed to be fixed. I kept my project and all the files on an external SSD and a copy of all of that on another external hard drive and edited off the SSD. While I was waiting on the audio track (roughly 2-3 weeks) I didnt plug in my SSD or open the project or anything. Then when I got the audio track back I plugged in my SSD, opened the project like normal, only this time a lot of random clips were missing throughout the timeline.

The way I put this music video together was each video track was a take of the song so then I just picked out the clips I wanted and put them in my main timeline track. When I went to go find the missing clips I couldn't even find the takes so its like the program deleted those takes and the clips I selected from them.

I didnt touch anything except put the new audio track into the project then realized the clips were missing. I didnt make any other changes or anything. When I saw the clips were missing I also thought maybe I accidentally deleted them somehow so I hit undo as much as I could but because the only edit I made was adding the audio track that is the only thing that was undone.

I am so confused and have no clue what happened. Any help is much appreciated and if someone knows how to see a save history or something like that, that would be a huge help!

I also have all the project files and original footage backed up on another hard drive but I don't know how to open that specific saved version. I don't see a project file or anything like that, just the cacheclip folder and all of those files/folders.

The clip information of the media pool will have a storage location. Check your offline clip.

Do not use windows or finder to move media directly, use davinci's media management.

Just imagine: you move the media file to another folder, how does davinci know?

The media hasn't moved, the clip is what is missing. I've attached a picture with arrows showing that clips are missing. Like someone went through and deleted those clips but I didnt do that. The original footage has not changed location either.

The clips look to be missing as u say but it’s not clear why. I can only recommend reverting to one of your project backups or putting them back in

How do I revert to a backup?

1) if you use "live save" that will not help
2) if the "backup project" save is not enabled or you manually saved a backup, you're screwed....

Yeah, just found the "backup project" option was not checked. Looks like I am going to have to redo this which sucks but at least I have the backups turned on for the future.
