Stereo track from 2 mono microphones, make both stereo

PostTue Apr 13, 2021 8:33 pm

I have recorded some video clips using Nikon Z6 II and Video Assist 12 G and with Røde Wireless GO II, in split mode. It means that each microphone recorded dialog from a separate person and the output was created as a stereo track in the video clip. One person speaks on the left channel, another on the right channel.

How do I configure in Resolve Studio so that I can:
- first make some edits on each of the mono tracks, e.g. lower volume or mute to highlight the key speaker in a given clip
- secondly and most importantly, how to render the clip with both mono tracks being heard on both left and right channels ?

I have played around with clip attributes, and while I can hear the expected output inside Resolve, when I render the clip, I am getting the original placement of the mono tracks, i.e. one person speaks on the left channel, another on the right channel.

Are you using Single clip or Individual clips mode?

I have the same settings like you showed on the screen shot.

I use individual clips option to render.

Try right-clicking the clips in the timeline and selecting "Render in place"

CentOS 7.3
Asus Z87, Intel Core i7-4770 3.4GHz, 24 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (450.66, supports CUDA 11.0). Old system but runs Resolve remarkably well!

Individual Clips render is meant for round-trip workflows and renders original clip audio only. Use single clip mode for rendering if you want the rendered file to match what you hear in Resolve.

Using the Single clip option for rendering indeed solved the issue. Thank you for help!
