Syncing audio after editing for export in XML/AAF

PostThu Apr 22, 2021 2:24 pm

Hi guys!

Someone sent me a Davinci Resolve project (shortfilm) edited completly with camera-audio. I have the field recordings (boom and lav) net the folowing:

* Sync the audio to the videos (I can do that with the auto sync in the media explorer

*Export the whole project with the synced audio clips (multi track: cam + boom + lav) as XML or AAF so that I can edit the audio in my DAW.

Right now whenever I export a XML I just get the cam-mic. I would need kind of the same timeline, but with additional boom/lav-tracks.

Is there any way to safe my ass?

Before you do anything, confirm the client is willing to pay for this extra work. If they are not, send it back for them to fix.

Was the camera and the production sound recorder timecode synced?

Version 17 now allows us to sync clips right in the timeline.

While replacing the camera audio should have been done before the edit (in my view), this new timeline sync feature may be useful.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
