Rolling Conform

PostSun Apr 25, 2021 8:25 pm

Hi all,

Is there a good strategy for maintaining a rolling conform for a feature length project in Resolve?

Almost all the previous work at my company involved receiving locked edits for final colour. The odd change might be manually cut in to the final sequence in Resolve.

In this instance, we will be getting updated edits from the editor (cut on Avid using DNxHD 115 .mxf dailies) every few days. We will receive the edit information from the editor, associated avid media files, and a reference video. We will rebuild their edit in Resolve and relink to either the original camera masters or EXRs from VFX. I'm sure this is a familiar workflow for many in the feature/commercial world. I'm just wondering what the best way to handle this is: creating a new timeline each time and colour tracing the project? manually cutting in new shots? using some sort 3rd party "edit change" tool to see what has changed? etc
