Impossible to change the "Enable video field processing" R17

PostThu Jan 14, 2021 8:45 am

Hi,
Currently on Resolve 17, we can no longer check / uncheck the "Enable video field processing" box when a timeline exists.

Unfortunately, I have been making a TV show for years where the archive / TV images are interlaced and recent images are progressive.

I get from the AVID edit :
- V1 = source DNxHD 185X 1080i
- V2 = H264 50p HD or UHD (drone)
- V3 = ProRes or XAVC-Intra 25p (interview)

The V1 comes from an end-to-end rendered by Avid.
The V2 and V3 are natives relinked by Avid's AAF.

Once the program has been graded, I need to:
- Return V1 to Avid as a DNxHD 185X 1080i single clip
o For that in the parameters I check "Enable video field processing"

- Return V2 and V3 in Avid in preset Avid AAF in individual clip DNxHR HQX 10-bit
o For that in the parameters I uncheck "Enable video field processing"

- Often return V2 and V3 patches in DNxHR HQX 10-bit single clip
o For that in the parameters I uncheck "Enable video field processing"

Avid picks up and applies the effects to all the return graded elements before export the PAD.
How can I continue to perform this workflow that I have been doing for many years since it was impossible to change the "Enable video field processing" box on an existing timeline.

I do a lot of programming where I mix different frame rates and scan type in a timeline. I know you want to harmonize your software to make it easier to distinguish the type of program, but can put this function back to yourself to facilitate renders.

I can't see myself explaining to the technician to create a new timeline and copy all the elements into it in order to change the scan type.

How to do ?

New bugs
When working in a 50i project with a 50i timeline and you want to check with an offline reference in 25p (H264 and DNxHD36) the file is played in 50p accelerated. It is impossible to do conformation.
If we place the media reference on a higher track, it is read at the correct speed.

The inability in Resolve 17 to check and uncheck "Enable interlace processing" on a created timeline causes major concerns. It is now impossible to output a timeline with 25p tracks and 50i tracks when working in a project with multiple frame-rates. You must copy all the clips from the 50i timeline and copy them to a new 25p timeline to render the tracks or clips in 25p. New manipulations that complicate the workflow. The Resolve 17 transition is not easy with the new enterlace solution.

Found on Resolve Studio 17.0 to 17.1.1
Tested on several PCs and MACs
