how do you scroll around the image in the preview window on

A really basic one, how do you scroll around the image in the preview window on a Mac?

The scroll wheel zooms in and if I hold down command and use the scroll wheel I can move up and down but I can’t find out how to move left and right. In photoshop you hold down the spacebar and drag for example. Thanks

Push the wheel down to grab the image and move it around.

Thanks for the response, I've got an apple Magic Mouse. there is no wheel to press down. Any ideas?

I second Peter's advice. For this work, a proper three button mouse is better.

So there is no way to scroll around an image in resolve without using a three buttoned mouse?

What page are you in? Viewers in different pages need different actions to scroll (one of my pet peeves).

In the Edit page on Windows Ctrl + Mouse Wheel scrolls vertically and Ctrl + Shift + Mouse Wheel scrolls horizontally. It's my understanding that on a Mac Ctrl=Cmd and I assume that Shift=Shift, so perhaps the corresponding key will work there...?

Also, what version of Resolve are you using? The scroll behavior changed between v16 and v17 to make the action more consistent between mouse and trackpad, but I believe it’s still inconsistent between pages.

So on a Mac:
Holding command and the scroll wheel moves the image up and down
Holding command, shift and the scroll wheel moves left and right.

FYI Resolve versions 17 works in all tabs as far as I can see.

How about when working in the field using a laptop?

In my view, using a Laptop for this work is like using a wrench to pound in a nail.

The job will get done, but man that is not the right way to go about it.

That said, I carry around a wireless USB mouse in my Laptop bag. (Used mostly for PowerPoint at live shows, not editing. That always waits till I'm back in the office.)
