Resolve Studio 17.1.1 AC3 support

Hello, I have a problem with Resolve Studio 17.1.1 with AC3. AC3 can not be processed. The log shows the following entry:
"0x000037a4] | IO.Audio | ERROR | 2021-04-18 13:52:10,708 | Failed to decode clip <O:\2019\2019-11 Mexico\Cam\00030.MTS>, track: 0, position: 200640 - Cannot find the codec for decoding."

The error occurs in my production Windows system since installing version 17.1.1. To determine if it is a general problem, I installed version 17.1.1 also in my test system, there the processing of AC3 works. Has anyone already had the same problem or can anyone give me some advice who to handle this problem?

Hi Peter,

I have the same issue you describe. My Sony Camcorder files will not play the AC3 sound any more in Davinci Resolve. I have tried also downgrading to 17.1 and even 17.0, no luck in either.
Not sure if this has been caused by a windows update or the update to version 17.

I hope the Blackmagic team is able to solve this problem. All my home video's are recorded in AC3 (5.1) audio. I have already created many video's without any issues with version 16.

A test clip with .ac3 audio provided by a user also failed for me in Resolve.

I suspect Resolve doesn't have the necessary decoder and is instead relying on that being provided by the Operating System. As that varies by user...

As mentioned the previous version (16) had no issues. After my upgrade to 17 the audio did not play any more.
