Important Menu Items Grayed Out

I keep getting this bug where I can't select certain menu bar options that should be available.

I'm also getting it from time to time. The keyboard shortcuts work, though.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Yeah, all the keyboard shortcuts work, thankfully. I'm noticing other buggy behavior when this occurs, like keyframes acting funny.

It usually requires a hard restart of my iMac to clear it out.
