Some unexpected anamorphic behavior

PostWed May 12, 2021 1:49 pm

Today I was conforming a trailer for a feature I did while back...

As I tried to replicate a rotation fx on the edit page of an anamorphic clip, the image got all distorted. It seems the de-squeeze in clip attributes is being applied to the canvas and not to the clip itself.

My workaround was to rotate on the color page but this is not ideal because I'm using remote grades, so had to use multiple versions for all the instances.

The other issue I encountered was that I decided to apply the rotation fx of another clip (not anamorphic) by pasting the attributes of another on the edit timeline and by mistake I also copied the other clip's color correction. I hit undo immediately and the rotation fx got reset but lost my color correction forever.

Luckily I had an old drp file to get back my correction... But this could happen to an editor without access to a backup or color skills.

It's not a Nested Timeline, Compound or Multicam clip?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

No. Just a regular raw clip from the Alexa mini.
