Text input in Linux - Bug?

PostSun Apr 19, 2020 1:34 am

Hi all!

I was working on a project and had to use text tiles with accents (since my native language is Spanish), and noticed that if I wrote directly accented characters, vowels specifically á, é, í, ó, ú, ü, etc. I could not, but if I wrote them on a program like Libre Office Writer and copied the text over, it was OK. Rather odd, really has any one notice this on Linux as well?

System specs::: -

  1. CPU - Ryzen 7 1800X
  2. RAM - 32 GiB
  3. OS Fedora 31, kernel 5.5.16
  4. GPU - GTX 1080

On Windows, the ALT codes for those special characters work in the Resolve titler.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Same problem here in DR in Linux Mint 20.1 and Kubuntu 21.04 (Spanish accents too). Pasting from notepad works like a charm, typing accents directly on tab don't. :?

My workaround for entering non-english characters in Text+ on Edit page is to open the text clip in Fusion, and enter the text there. It's easier than copying from external editors. viewtopic.php?f=21&t=134455
And it's an old problem. It's annoying that it still has not been fixed viewtopic.php?f=36&t=130441#p708927
