23 secs to project page then long load time

PostMon May 17, 2021 3:29 pm

Hi everyone,

i am a bit confused here...
everyone says Resolve takes 8 seconds to boot at least to project page....
but mine takes around 23 secs to project page and then after i choose the project,
at least more 10 seconds...
indeed version 17.2 has a faster boot than the previous ones....but 8 secs?!?
(i started it a 2nd time, while i wrote this post, and it took 19 secs to project page...
but it stays around 8 secs when the READY word appears...)
what can i do to faster my resolve boot?
i am on a Mac Pro Late 2013 3,5GHZ 6-Core Intel Xeon E5 with 64 gb of ram and mas os catalina.

and...just to check...
on GPU configuration, i have METAL choosed, and no ticks on any box of GPU processing mode and GPU
selection, because i also have an external GPU, and if i choose Auto, the system will work only with
one board...am i correct?

so below i have all the 3 boards selected:

external GPU, which is a AMD RADEON RX 580
and the two internals AMD FirePro D500, which on the type both say Discrete...why?

am i doing something wrong here?

Thanks.
Cheers.

what happens to your speed if you move the external GPU?

Hi Peter,
that was one part of the question...

as far as i can see, "he" is using all the boards available...right?
please see attached picture.

but my concern is not with the software performance...
i am happy with it...i also asked about the "metal" mode...

i am asking about the 8 seconds boot....how's that possible?

thanks.
cheers.

im getting less than 8 sec from clicking the resolve app icon to project manager.
consistently. The only time its longer is after a mac reboot as there is an Apple security check for each app opened the first time after a reboot.

i see the attached pix, which is why i said remove the external gpu..and test
