DaVinci Resolve Studio 17.2 Render Crash

PostFri May 21, 2021 8:07 am

Hello Everyone,

I have the latest version of DaVinci Resolve 17.2 Studio
latest version of Nvidia drivers for GTX 980Ti
Windows 10 Pro 1909

I'm pretty new to Davinci Resolve & the render crashes at a point where there is images. I dont know whether i added the images wrong or whether the file is too large. i will attach the screenshots of image sizes and timeline crash point.

Can anyone support in fixing this render? i have tried atleast 85-90 renders but it doesn't work. If i remove the images it renders fine without issues but if I add the render it crashes.

Below are the Windows Event Log Error at the time of render fail.

The description for Event ID 1 from source NVIDIA OpenGL Driver cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

An application has requested more GPU memory than is
available in the system.
The application will now be closed.

I don't know much about Windows; just that my wife had constant problems with it. I run Manjaro Linux and it flies. If Windows is too slow on your OPC, consider getting a dual boot to check it out, maybe use the official Linux (CENTOS 7 I believe) first to get used to it.

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

How much VRAM do you need & what graphics card would you require to render 4k 8bit 20mins footage with color grading, fusion and effects?

I have a Nvidia GTX 980 Ti with 6GB of RAM. Is this the cause of the crashes?
