Vertical Gap in Timeline Tracks

PostWed May 26, 2021 7:50 pm

I keep inadvertently creating a large vertical gap between V2 (the titles track) and V1 (the video track).

It seems to be related to a mouse click that's being interpreted by the UI as a "drag" operation. ie moving the mouse while rapidly clicking. It seems to always happen when I'm altering titles

Clicking in this gap produces a black section underneath the title (see screeshot)

What am I doing?

More importantly, how do I get rid of it? I've clicked and dragged everywhere, but I can't close the gap between V1 and V2.

thanks for any advice

Thank you John! You've released me from a circle of frustration.

I've never used the curves editor. I guess that explains my ignorance. Time to do some more learning.

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Thanks, John. I watched most of those excellent videos a year or so ago when I started learning Resolve, but since I never use it, the part about the curve editor had evaporated from my tiny brain.

My problem was that, when you invoke the curve editor on a title, there's much less indication of what you've done than if you invoke it on a video clip.

Still, mea culpa. And I really appreciate the assistance here.
