Histograms don't match

PostThu Jun 03, 2021 1:23 pm

I'm learning the craft so please have patience with me -

It feel like the histograms don't match.

The histogram on the curve overlay has a lot more headroom in the highlights - If you compare it to the histogram on the scopes page, as well as the wave scope.

Coming from a photography background, the histogram on the curves is misleading - as you blowout the highlights long before you reach to top..

Please advice.

If found my own answer- Hopefully I'm correct -

The scopes on the rights - display the data as reference to the output color space (REC 709). The overlay on the curves screen uses the timeline color space - Wide Gamut in this case.. Thus internally you don't clip the data, but REC709 it does..

If both are the same, the histogram are the same.
