Am I trying the impossible with Tentacle Sync E in Windows?

PostMon Jun 07, 2021 6:14 am

Hi and I'm sorry but after hours, my mind is almost lost.

In this test, 2 cameras (3 if I can get it working) each output 4 audio channels each to recorders.

2 Tentacle Sync E's are set to jam timecode to each recorder, which seems to work. I then use the Tentacle Timecode Tool to export the clips to whatever undocumented format they create.

Next open exported files in DR, ensuring project framerate and DF match the TSEs and cameras. I create a multicam clip by timecode with cameras named 1 and 2.

If I open Timeline 1 in the timeline (if that makes sense), the multicam clip shows and 2 multicam windows show in the preview window. I have no way of knowing if both audio tracks are actually playing (since both record the same voice), but just assume they are.

If I open the multicam clip in the timeline, both clips appear in separate tracks, but the sync is off. I need to be able to see all audio channels this way.

We shoot 3 cameras and each has 4 channels. Has anyone ever gotten this sort of 3 camera/12 audio channels to work with TSE and the DR multicam feature? The TSEs were expensive and I'm afraid the goal is unachievable.

Any wisdom to share on this? I would really appreciate it.
