I exhausted all my research on this I selected multiple clip in timeline and change my duration to 1sec now all my clips are spread apart what I mean there is no clips in between clips there is gap I'm trying to connect clips back to back is there a way to do it with multiple clips instead of one by one moving closer to clips it will take me long time I have over 40 1sec clips see the pic the red is clips and black is just space in between

in pointer mode, select all the clips in the timeline, switch to trim mode, right click on a selected clip and set duration.

As I understand it, you want to delete all the space between the 40 clips?

If so, I'm not aware of a way to do that, but if it's only 40 clips and not something it wouldn't take long to click on each space and press the delete key.

Peter's method is the easiest - it preserves gaps where gaps are, and keeps adjacent clips adjacent.

If you're looking to just clear gaps, set an In-Out Range and choose Delete Gap.

For my own education, why would you not just use edit - delete gaps for this? Or am I misunderstanding the question? It seems all the OP wants is to delete all the gaps in the timeline?

Their question indicates that they want to resize clips without introducing new gaps - i.e. preserving adjacency.

In trim mode, resizing to a smaller size keeps adjacent clips adjacent, and preserves gaps correctly.
And resizing to a larger size prevents clips from overwriting one another.

If the resize has already been done, then removing gaps - either for the whole timeline or a specific selection - is useful, but you will have to check for the cases above manually...
- was any original < 1 second? did it clobber the clip on the right?
- did I have gaps to start with? should I put back the gaps in those cases?
