Davinci Resolve 17.2.1 no Fusion Texts no Transitions

Hi.
A friend of mine downloaded the free version of davinci resolve, but he has no fusion text effects and no video transitions. He downloaded 17.2.1

I have the full version and first thought that maybe the free version just doesn't have these things. But then I downloaded the free version as well and I DID GET fusion effects and the transitions.

Why would he not get them? He is using a mac pro from 2011, with radeon 580 and 8 or 12 xeon cores (not sure)

Any ideas? Is this a bug?
